This powerful work, Hercule devant la lune (Hercules Before the Moon, c. 1924–1926) by the legendary French avant-garde master Francis Picabia, captures a monumental pivot in his infamous career. Painted shortly after Picabia famously abandoned the Dada movement and relocated to the sun-drenched coast of Mougins in the South of France, this piece reflects a period defined by intense personal freedom, luxury, and artistic rebellion.
